Laser hair removal
How does laser hair removal work?
What happens in the skin during treatment and why several sessions are needed.

Laser hair removal is a widely chosen treatment for lasting reduction of unwanted hair. Laser pulses are absorbed by pigment in the hair follicle and converted into heat.
From laser light to heat
The heat damages the follicle, after which the hair sheds. RB Clinics uses the LightSheer Desire with a HighSpeed handpiece for larger areas and ChillTip cooling for comfort.
Why several treatments are needed
Only hairs in the active growth phase respond effectively. Because follicles are not all active at once, sessions are spread over several weeks.
- • Laser light is converted into heat
- • The heat targets the follicle
- • A course is needed because hair grows in phases
- • Very light blonde, grey, white and red hair cannot be treated effectively
