Knee fat removal
Fat freezing, or cryolipolysis treatment, is a popular procedure for knee fat removal. This removes localised fat at the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and even the knees. Fat freezing works by applying cold temperatures to local fat deposits, disrupting their structure and causing them to die off. The body then eliminates the dead fat cells naturally over several weeks. Cryolipolysis treatment basically works the same as liposuction treatment, but without a plastic surgeon. At RBClinics, you can get beautiful knees without surgery and without scars from small incisions.

The procedure is performed at our clinic and does not require local anaesthesia. Our qualified professional first measures the area to be treated with fat freezing and marks it with a pen. The treating doctor then applies a gel pad to protect the skin from freezing and attaches a hand-held cooling device to the skin above the treated area. This device uses suction to pull tissue into an applicator cup, which is filled with cooling plates designed to safely freeze fat cells without damaging the underlying tissue. The device causes the knees to become frozen and the fat cells to die off.
How long does a cryolipolysis treatment last?
The treatment usually takes 50 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated. Patients may feel coolness during the treatment, but there is no pain or discomfort. After treatment, the skin is temporarily numb, but this returns after a few hours. The cosmetic doctor massages the skin for 2-3 minutes. After treatment, patients are advised against taking hot showers for at least four hours, as this may cause discomfort due to temporary swelling in the treated area.
It usually takes 2-3 months after treatment before the final result is visible. This is because the body needs several weeks to break down and flush away the removed fat cells through natural metabolic processes. During this period, the upper legs may notice some temporary redness, swelling or a tingling sensation, which disappear naturally within a few days or weeks as lymphatic drainage occurs naturally during these two months. These are normal symptoms.
